Zanzibar has been announced as the Official Host Destination for the World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony 2026, with the event scheduled to take place on 28 August 2026 at Diamonds Bijoux. The announcement places Zanzibar at the centre of one of the travel industry’s most recognised international events, bringing together tourism boards, hotel brands, airlines, tour operators, and hospitality leaders from across Africa. Tanzania will also host the World Travel Awards Grand Final later in November 2026, making it one of the few countries to host both major ceremonies within the same year. The selection reflects the growing international profile of Zanzibar and Tanzania within the tourism sector, particularly in areas such as hospitality development, destination marketing, and investment in tourism infrastructure. Over the past few years, Zanzibar has continued to expand its position beyond beach tourism by strengthening cultural tourism, luxury hospitality, heritage preservation, and international air connectivity. The recognition by World Travel Awards adds further visibility to these efforts and reinforces the destination’s importance within the regional and global tourism market.
